Guest Blogger: Andy Bennett

22 January 2008 No Comment

Tonight, we have a guest blogger for your enjoyment.  Some of you may remember Andy Bennett from the novel Trolley Dodgers. Although he doesn’t appear in the upcoming Kansaska, he did write the introduction:

I became friends with my Uncle George during the summer of 1997. Of course, he was dead by then, so we didn’t talk much. I had met him when I was a kid, but I never really knew him until my grandmother Roxy read aloud his memoirs during the summer the town of Bloomington, Indiana, tried to buy the Dodgers. Over the course of two evenings in June, she shared his adventures while we sat on her screened-in porch.
As she read, kids from the neighborhood played Wiffle Ball in the side yard. By the end of the second evening, the kids were crowded on the porch with us. I think Uncle George’s story is a good one, although I’m not sure I believe it all, what with the aliens and the Canadians and the gypsies. But it’s a good story nonetheless. It’s too bad Roxy isn’t around to read it to you.

Kansaska will be available soon!  I will try to post more excerpts in the upcoming weeks.

Carry on, Citizens!
